User Interface Settings
A digital readout is read from across a machine, often through a coolant-splashed screen, and tapped with a hand that is also on a handwheel. The "User Interface Settings" screen holds the choices that make that easier: how many digits the readouts show and in what font, what a short press does, and which function buttons take up room on the strip.
To open the screen, open the application menu, tap "Settings", and tap "User Interface Settings". Every setting on it belongs to the loaded machine profile.
General Settings
Readout Display Format
Sets how many decimal places every axis readout shows. This is a display choice only. Position is measured, stored, and exported at the scale's full resolution regardless of what is shown.

The default suits glass and magnetic scales. Capacitive scales are steadier to look at with three decimal places, since their last digit flickers otherwise.
Readout Display Font
Sets the typeface of the numeric readouts. Labels, buttons, and dialogs are not affected. "7-Segment" mimics a traditional DRO console, "Monospace" keeps every digit the same width, and "Default system font" (the default) uses the tablet's own font.
Mute UI Sounds
Off by default. When on, silences the application's sound effects: key beeps, the connection chime, the probe contact tone, and the rest. It does not affect the tablet's other sounds.
Show Position Indicators
On by default. Shows the analog position slider under each axis readout, the bar that moves with the axis and marks the zero point. Turning it off frees a little vertical space on small screens.
UI Behavior
Short Press Sets Origin
Off by default. Normally a short press on an axis's zero button zeros the incremental readout, and a long press sets the absolute origin, as described under "Coordinate Systems and Datums". With this on, a short press on the zero or center button sets the origin in whichever coordinate system the axis is showing, and the long-press gesture for it is disabled. It suits operators coming from a console DRO where the zero key always acted on the current mode.
Activate New Subdatum
On by default. When on, a sub-datum you add becomes the active one immediately, so the readouts switch to showing the distance to it. When off, new sub-datums go into the list without changing what is active, which is quicker when you are recording a series of positions and don't want the readouts jumping after each one. See "Managing Sub-Datum Memory".
Legacy Pattern Angles
Off by default on a new installation. Sets the zero direction the hole-pattern functions use for their angle inputs. Off measures angles from 3 o'clock, counter-clockwise, the convention on measurement cards and most DRO consoles. On measures from 12 o'clock, clockwise, the convention earlier TouchDRO versions used. The setting is not shown on a lathe profile, since a lathe always uses the 12 o'clock convention that matches how turning angles are specified.
Graphical View Settings
Both settings apply only while the live camera backdrop is on in the graphical view, described on "Live Camera Feed". With the camera off they do nothing.
- "Don't hide overlays when camera is on", off by default. Turning the camera on normally hides the sub-datum markers, guides, and the drawn tool shape so they don't clutter the video. With this on, they stay drawn over the live picture. The reference image stays hidden either way, since it is opaque and would cover the picture.
- "Crosshair color when camera is on" recolors the graphical view's crosshair while the camera is on, so it stays visible against bright metal under a work light. The options are Default, White, Black, Cherry, Dark Green, and Dark Magenta. The colors are deliberately dark rather than saturated, so the crosshair reads as a solid line instead of washing out.
Function Strip Preferences
Each row shows or hides one button on the function strip, described on "DRO Function Buttons". All are on by default, so a new profile starts with every function that applies to its machine type, and the strip closes up around the ones you switch off. A function that is switched off here is not disabled, only unlisted; its dialogs can still be reached from anywhere else that opens them.
